This is very good news indeed.  I don't know too much about the different 'flavors' of Linux, but I know unRAID and 1 or 2 others seem to be the most commonly requested.  In my case, a server that installs on unRAID, letting my windows and android devices each have their own "library" connected to the server is the ideal solution.  I really do hope that this server will just serve the media, and that the clients can have different views and ratings and other 'opinion based settings', all while simultaneously connected.

Fingers crossed :)

Thanks for the update Jim, it's very welcome news that you're well down the path already  8)

GIMMIE  ;D

Seriously though, if I can just get a DLNA server running with no conversion to serve my fleet of Raspberry Pi's, then I'll be a happy bunny :)

I've got a Linux based NAS and my skills with Linux are worse than noob status. That said, it's a fact of life now so I'm dealing with it and progressing up the learning curve. I'd expect the ideal situation would be a Linux MC streaming files through to the HTPC rather than via some other DLNA server. Currently, I've set up MC on the HTPC to access media files via a mapped network drive.

In my bones, I'm sure that this is a poor option from a network efficiency viewpoint. All I can say is that it's easy and it works. I'm on the lookout for ways to improve, which is why this post caught my eye.

The NAS that I've got has an HDMI output, so I can run it as a standalone console and run media from it (with appropriate non-J River software at the moment). I'd much rather be an MC only household but all in good time.

Keep it up Jim H. You guys are going down the path I was expecting. I'll wait patiently for more good things to happen. Love it..  ;D
