I'm very interested in this discussion as well.

I have just purchased a Philips HMP5000 media player which from what I can see (device spy) supports SetNextAVTransportURI.

When I push FROM MC to the HMP5000 I get a small gap (1.5 seconds) between tracks.  So I'm now on a mission to see how to get it gapless.

I have MC set to always convert the files and to output PCM 16 and have assigned the DLNA server to the HMP5000, I have tried mp3 but that gives the same result and if the post above is correct MP3 isn't expected to work with gapless anyway.

I also tested a WD TV Live box that Nathan lent me, but that gives me a 4 or 5 second gap between tracks!

So should PCM 16 give me gapless in theory when PUSHING from MC if the device supports SetNextAVTransportURI ?

Thanks
Richard

I tested that device with my MediaSteersman app a while ago. It appeared to me as a most basic streaming device, which didnt do gapless. Then again, I dont remember seeing the SetNextAVTransportURI action (and that is one thing I look for immediately), so that might have come in with a recent firmware update. However, the presence of that action does NOT necessarily mean that the device can play gapless.

As doulos said, just because the device has the function doesn't mean it is actually supported or is bug free.
You might try invoking GetMediaInfo while the device is playing back.
Report the values in the fields NextURI and NextURIMetadata

Thanks for the responses Bob & doulos.

I have 7 days to return the unit so will play as much as I can before I decide if I should return it.

I'll test what you suggest tomorrow bob as it's 1am here now!

I have another issue, but I'll start a new post so not to hijack this thread.
