Finalize a Data CD
« on: March 18, 2002, 01:15:06 pm »

I'm using 8.0.206 and I would like to know how to finalize a data CD using Media Jukebox.  I don't think that it does this.

MJ finalizes audio CD's, but data CD's are left open for adding sessions to the CD. Do you think it's important to add a "finalize" option to MJ for data disks?

Yes, I do think that it is important.  When dealing with multisession CDs, the operating system seems to take a very long time trying to read the directory structure (I think that is what it is doing).  Why do I care?  I care because a 700MB CD-R that is not a single session takes 28 seconds to start playing on my Rio Volt player.  The same CD when burned onto a DAO single session (using Nero) takes 10-12 seconds to start playing with far less head movement.  Besides starting the music faster, the battery drain is reduced.  Multisession data CDs are less compatible also.

I think what would be ideal is a DAO single session option available for data CDs and DAO for audio CDs.
