I have installed JRMC19 but have retained my installation of JRMC18 just in case of problems with the new version.

When I start JRMC19 I get the message asking me if I wish to allow the program to make changes to my computer. I also get this message when running JRMC18, which I didn't get before installing JRMC19.

Can anyone please tell me how to stop this message on startup?

I believe it has to do with file associations. Try disabling shell integration in one of them.

For me, if I run MC 18 (now that MC19 is installed) the first time I run 18, after having run 19, I get the notice about making changes.

As long as I continue to run 19 (or 18) I don't get the notice. ..only when I then try and run the other.

does that make sense?

I think they are fighting for associations, for example :

Make MP3s open automatically from windows explorer with V18 when 18 starts, or associate with V19 when 19 starts.

In my V18 install I went to Options > File Types and turned off all file associations. This cured it for me. Any files I open explorer open with V19 then.

that makes sense...     In my case, I'm using MC19 totally now anyway, so unless I run into something nasty, I'll uninstall 18 at some point.

This is normal.

There's only one "active" core at a time.  If you switch major versions, it will try to become the active core (which requires UAC elevation).

This is relevant for some COM objects that require system-wide registration but don't switch internal IDs each version (like the TV decoding filters, for example).
