Encoding with Lame MP3 is very slow compared to MusicMatch encoding.  Is the quality much better?  Is there a faster high-quality way to encode?

MJ8 is faster than 7.2.280, slower than MusicMatch But a better encoding is done by MJ and the Lame encoder

I think there was a web site that had Real And Music Match About The Same, both had there problems, and bandwith droped at i think 16khz, the lame encoder did not drop off and went higher.

I think User Z posted the web site, it is a bit dated now (A year old or so).

Doesn't MM use Freuhoffer (spelling?) and Real use Xing? Lame is the slowest mp3 encoder in the galaxy, but is claimed by audiophiles to produce the best sounding mp3 file. If you don't care about sound quality as much, and are just in a hurry to have the songs recorded, you can download Xing or GoGo (the fastest mp3 encoder, I hear) and use them in MJ as an external encoder. Personallly, as far as mp3 goes, I can't tell Frauheufer from Lame. Xing is noticibly bad. Don't know about GoGo.

GoGo is really no faster than Lame, how ever it does support computers with more than 1 CPU

Wasn't one of the mp3 encoders supposed to be significantly faster than the others? Was it Xing then, rather than GoGo? Out of curiosity, are there mp3 encoders other than Lame, Xing, GoGo and the one with the German name that I can never remember how to spell?

there are many encoders that are out, some for programers only as a OCX or DLL to be placed in your Visual C Or Visual Basic MP3 Program.

Xing is owned by real networks now (they bought out Xing technologies over a year ago)
