Confused as to what extent MC for Mac will support exports and sync to media players. I am experimenting with the new Fiio X3. Shows up on my system as if it were a hard drive. But does not show up in MC. Will I be able to sync with media players with MC for Mac?

The handheld engine is not currently part of MC for Mac.
Hopefully someday.
(For anyone else reading, iPhone will still be a problem as long as Apple keeps it cryptographically locked from third-parties.)
