Go to the accssories link at the top of this page and select plug-ins. You will find encoders in there.

I went to the encoder page and did the download.  How do I access it now?  Where did it get stored?

kell - if you used IE to download / install the encoders they should be installed automatically.

If you go to Settings / Plug-in Manager you should see the encoders listed.

To convert a format select Tools / Convert Format.

What version of MJ are you using? You may have to be a little more specific as to what you are trying to do. If you select files for conversion, you should have all the options listed right on the convert format window. If you want to switch encoder plug-ins you can select 'change' or 'options' from this window. I don't think you can do this from the plug-in manager if that is where you are looking. Also, this applies to version 8.

I have version 8.  I am trying to convert my cd tracks to mp3s.
I tried to do the exact same thing I 100 times before but the mp3 conversion is no longer listed there.
I went to tools/convert format/options/encoding
The conversion feature is the ONLY reason why I bought this program and now it has been removed.

Kell,

Try Tools > Copy (Rip) CD...assuming you have the MP3 encoder installed.  Also, first select the tracks you want to rip on the CD or select the drive under the Devices node.

zrockers response is correct for what you want to do. I was under the impression that you wanted to change formats you had already ripped.

p.s. The help file now in version 8.0.231 is not a copy of version7.2. Most of it should be able to answer your questions.

the options for conversion does not include mp3s even after I have done the download.

Kell,

If your Plug-In Manager's Encoder node does NOT include the MP3 Encoder, then it's not there...I don't know why (sorry).  Try posting an image (picture) of your Plug-In Manager's screen showing us what is listed under you Encoder node...maybe that'll help us help you.
