Lip sync issues driving me mad
« on: September 06, 2013, 01:22:49 am »

Hi all

Installed the trial version and will purchase although have a big problem.

When I use the non bitstream setting I seem to suffer from lip-sync issues, however when I switch bit streaming on these go away.

I use video clock but this does not seem to make any difference, this also can me made worse if I fast forward the video.

This is a real shame as one of the major reasons for using this software is to use my PC as a pre-amp as I have heard so many good things about these features.

Any advice would be very welcome.

Im running the new Haswell i7 4770 chip so not sure if this is the root of any issues?

As a long time user of XBMC I would make the switch if I can resolve this issue.

Try toggling a few of the options under Tools--> Options--> Video such as
- Video Mode
- HW Accelerate
- Display Settings --> Enable Automatic Display Settings changing (and set the fps)

Make sure the audio within the video itself is not out of sync. Since you don't see it with bitstreaming its probably oke, but be sure to check it with other videos as well.

Under Tools/Options, Video, Advanced you can configure  A/V sync correction in milliseconds for different refresh rates. Sometimes this is inevitable as drivers or even hardware can delay the audio signal. I had to do a 200ms correction when I used ASIO on my hardware.

Hope this helps.

Wow!!!

Quick responses guys' thanks for your time.

I will try again this weekend and have a play with the delay settings to try and get it in sync.

One other thing, I am not sure and will need to check but I think the situation was worse when I used the MadVR rendering engine (Red October HQ), would that figure?

Also when I call up the audio path box I can see that there is corrections going on via the video clock.

Regards

Yes, RO HQ may be to much for the iGPU with some media.  Start with RO STD first, get it working then it can be tweak time to see where the limit is.

Ok thanks

But I am using a i7 Haswell 4770 so you would have thought it would manage this in its sleep.

Is that a HD4200 or 4600 integrated? I'm lazy to look it up :P.

Either way, it should be able to handle MadVR with a few exceptions but like Jmone said, its best to just try and get it troublefree at RO Std. Once its all good, take the next step.

It will probably be fine with some tweaks to the scaling algorithms that are used.... but lets get the lip sync sorted first.
