Will use 2009 white MacBook with 4 gb memory as a computer

Can place Windows 7 on it

Computer will be a music only device.  Maybe movies played at some point in future, maybe not. Already have other movie players.

Don't love Mac interface but don't really care one way or other that much

Will use iPad to control, remotely

So,  set up as windows computer and use Windows or set up as native Mac computer and use Mac version?

All music currently on windows formatted USB drive hooked to a Windows caps 1 server.  This device is sluggish with 100 k files and is major reason to replace.  Works fine otherwise except for speed issues

I work a lot with both Windows and OSX. I prefer the OSX platform. Working with both OSs and reading many forums I come to the conclusion that OSX is a better platform for audio, because the audio is less "touched" by the OS. It's also easier to eliminate unwanted background tasks and OSX suffers less from updates.
