Do I have enough computer for MediaCenter 19?
« on: October 02, 2013, 06:31:16 am »

My current CAPS 1 computer (see performance below) with 2 gB memory performs screen updates "leisurely" but reliably. Occasionally locks up or pauses.
Audio works fine without hiccup.

With JRemote on my iPad, performance is pretty good, almost spiffy.

1) Would upgrading to the 19 version likely cause any performance hit?

2) If the answer is "yes", would a MacBook (used as aWindows 7 computer) with a Benchmark of 1200+ be more than adequate?

Thanks

MC19 is already faster than MC18 in several key areas like drawing, idle load, audio handling, etc.  Expect more speed improvements through the cycle.

Is this your unit?

From what I can make out, looks like your upgrade options are pretty limited.

One for those clued up to hardware a bit better than myself but it's at least clear from the stated build objective that the unit was always destined to be an audio server only and it sounds like you've worked out an efficient way to operate and control it.

Your post prompted me to have a look for minimum recommended hardware info and I wasn't able to find anything of use on the Wiki, the forum and other places. This is the best that I could come up with:

There would certainly be a different minimum relevant to audio only and video use. I can understand the difficulties of maintaining recommendation advice current but it's not readily apparent (I don't think) when you go looking for it..
