There's a feature on JRiver that makes all of your music the same volume, has anyone ever made use of it?

When my pre turns up, it does so without a remote, so if I can make everything the same volume then great!

Please tell me of your experiences with it and also how to do it please (had a go, no joy; just makes everything sound quieter, loud albums are still louder than quiet ones).

Also, I've got some music with a fantastic dynamic range (ie you can turn it right up to about 70% and some bits are still quiet, some are very loud) if I use this feature, will I hurt this excellent quality? As some music is too loud at 20%.

Any help much appreciated.

Do not delete this thread yet ... I believe why the different "adaptive" leveling modes do not work with "volume" leveling deserves some explanation.  That is, I have volume leveling and adaptive leveling (peak level normalization) enabled, but still find the "listening" levels for music versus movies very much different, and this counters why I enable volume leveling in the first place.  The listening level for movie audio is extremely attenuated (which is probably due to dynamic range) and therefore I'd like to enable the adaptive mode "night mode" for reducing dynamic range, raising movie dialog while attenuating sound effects, but I'd have to change options anytime I switch between music and movies.

Can you consider making adaptive and volume leveling settings specific to file types?

Edit:  Let me also ask if the hardware configuration defeating volume adjustments has any relevance here?  That is, my audio out is via HDMI and volume control (i.e., listening level) is therefore controlled by my AVR, not MC ...
