JRiver MC 19 with Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190
« on: October 21, 2013, 10:52:39 am »

Hello,

What are the minimum requirements to run JRiver on Windows?  The Lenovo IdeaCentre Q190 media PCs come with 4 GB of RAM and a choice of Celeron or i3 processor (http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops/ideacentre/q-series/q190/).  Will I notice a difference?  This will be used to connect to an NAD amplifier with on-board DAC.

Thanks.

James

either will work fine, but if you have a choice I would go for the i3...

EDIT: I just looked at your link and while the prices seem low in my opinion so are the processor speeds with the i3 being the fastest at 1.8ghz in todays market I think you could do better by shopping around a bit. I would not buy anything below 2.5ghz (unless of course you plan on using it as a dedicated music/video server) Now this is just my humble opinion.

Thanks for the advice, I bet you're right.  Based on other posts I've found that may not be the only limitation.

I'm looking for a dedicated media server that will fit in the cabinet alongside my audio equipment.  Do you know where I might look for a higher performance CPU in a compact form factor?
