synchronized playback
« on: August 09, 2013, 10:47:34 am »

Is there a way to synchronize two computers to play back so that there is no noticeable time delay?

Thanks for the help!

Run one machine as a Library Server.  Connect the other as a client.

The server zones will appear on the client (called TRemote zones).  You can link the TRemote zone and your local zones on the client.  Then play to the link and they should stay synchronized.

also, this is VERY handy ... Once you have linked the zones like Matt has said,

GO  Main Menu=>Player=>Zones=>Adjust Link Timing.

This has really improved in version 18. Might need someone to help listen who can here both zones to really sync in up right.

Thanks to the A-Team once again ;D

Does this mean that you have linked zones as Matt suggested and you are successfully playing media on different machines for extended periods of time with no noticeable delay?  "Should stay synchronized" and "really improved" lead me to believe that the answer is still "no."  I use MC 17 and have been able to make this work perfectly for 1-2 songs but that doesn't count as working.  Can I get the same synchronized playback experience with MC 18 or 19 that I can get with a splitter?

I recently upgraded to MC19 from MC17.  I see no difference in synchronized playback (it doesn't work) and now I need to figure out why I only get HDMI audio out with Direct Sound instead of WASAPI on MC19.  I would be a bigger JRiver fan right now had I not upgraded from version 17 and stuck with HDBaseT products as I work on my next zone.

@Dan

There is a newer post on this issue, it would be interesting maybe if you posted your set up/config there ==> http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=85397.msg583619#msg583619

As this is a Version 18 forum and you are on version 19, it would be better to contribute to that thread I think as this might get lost in the sauce so to speak. :)

In the mean time, if not the case already, try unchecking  "Do not play silence (leading and trailing)" in options and see if that helps
