Hi all at JRiver,
As JimH sugested I am opening a new thread on this subject.
Currently all fiwewalls are off and I have a direct dialup no proxies.
I have just updated to Build222 and I have the same issues as I had with 218.
CDDB fails to open a socket, also both Find info CD and Artist give me actioned cancelled in MJ's browser window.
I have disabled XP's firewall that didn't help. I also unistalled 216 and clean installed 218 that didn't solve it either.
Any other sugestions gratefully recieved. 216 works for me.
Between 216 and now no other software was installed.
Check for updates gives me failed to connnect to server.
Trying to install plugins from the encoder page also give's me Can't connect to server .
If I go offline after using MJ 218 or 222 I have to reboot my Laptop to get back online.

Hi all,
I hand deinstalled with regedit MJ  JRiver from the registry after using MJ's uninstaller, in the hope that I might improve my chances of fixing the above mentioned disfunctions on my machine. Unfortunately I got no joy. I also cannot install MJ8 216 I get failure to reg all files even with a reboot.
I have been stopped dead in my tracks to catalogue my Music collection. Currently at

Albums 102
File Size 7.915GB
Duration 97:24:06

cddb has separate proxy settings.  Available in MJ under settings/options/cd settings/cddb.

Check other posts here on CDDB.  There have been lots of problems reported that were not MJ problems.  Uninstalling other music software has worked in some cases.

Hi JimH
I have checked there, but I do not use a proxy. I do not have a firewall installed at this moment, and XP's is turned off.
MJ's homepage will not download through MJ Build 224. Find CD does not work neither Artist Info both give me
"Action canceled
Internet Explorer was unable to link to the Web page you requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable. "

Web media the same.
I have uninstalled 8 and installed V7 which I have registered with you but that fails to register some files and won't run. So I am stuck. I am trying everything I can think to try and make this work. As you sugested I ran a search in interact about CDDB issues I found one problem about failure to open socket but no note about a resolution.
I do not have any other software programme that uses CDDB or that manages Music othe than MS Media which I almost never use. Up untill Build 218 and above MJ has been excellent over all.
At a loss now

THERE MUST BE SOMETHING BLOCKING

how do you know if windows xp firewall is off? where do you see this and what does it say

did you have a firewall installed? did you turn it off or uninstall it?

if you had Zone Alarm installed and it is not currently running, it will still block CDDB if it is not running. other firewalls may do the same.

if you have firewalls installed but not running, uninstall them (for now)

Well King you have done it again.
Uninstalling Zone alarm seems to have done the trick. Many thanks.
Just to let you know that you can see XP's firewall in the Network connections page in tiles mode.
Each connection has if it firewalled or not by the connection.
Many Thanks.
