CD Burning
« on: March 07, 2002, 06:03:07 pm »

Each time I try to burn a file I get an error message that the file does not have associated 8.3 names?
Thanks

The Goldenhawk burn library we use doesn't allow burning of a filename that doesn't have an associated "short" filename. You can try using the generic library instead, or copy the problem files to new files (and re-import) and the problem should go away.

If you still get the same error and you're running NT/2K/XP, see this note:

// Win2k NTFS allows you to turn off 8.3 alias creation on filenames.
// Registry key is: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation
