Author Topic: WinXP, Multiple Users and MJ 8 - failed to open 'playlistx.jmd'  (Read 941 times)

Got the following when my wife, tried to run MJ 8.0.218 for the first time:
1st: The "Import media files" dialog box displays, then
"Critical Error: Media Jukebox failed to open the database file 'playlistx.jmd' for saving (a file coule be read-only or corrupt)"
If I click Cancel, the message disappears, but then reappears in about 5 seconds.

The "coule" is mis-spelled in the dialog box. (Not my typo)

She and I both have admin rights to the box, so the file permissions are not an issue.
I did the original install under my ID.

No, I didn't install MJ when logged in as her.
I wanted to see if there where any other suggestions before I did that..

If this is the case, then the install process may need to indicate that MJ needs to be "re-installed" for each user.

Try it and let us know.

And you're right about the multi-user stuff, but it's sort of a tricky one.  Some people want very user-specific installs, and others want system-specific.  Maybe 9.0 can make it an option...

Thanks for your help.

That did the "trick". Now both logon ID's can play/use MJ8.

Another "oddity" I have to install plug-ins on a per-user basis. Example: I installed the HTML Interface on my wife's logon ID, then I logged on and no HTML Interface..

Had to do the same for the Sleep Timer and DFX plugins..
