jriver not user friendly on 235:1 screens
« on: November 06, 2013, 10:37:03 pm »

Not sure if this is already possible and Ive missed it. If not it would be a great addition. For those of us with a 235:1 screen you can no longer see the play bar ( I dont know what to call it ) at the top or the bottom. I have to select 16x9 on my projector and go back to set the aspect ratio etc per title then back to scope mode where this is cut off.

Thank you!

The only way is to use a custom resolution on your video card by resizing the desktop within the 1080p resolution. The problem is you can only have one 1080p setting. If you switch between 1920x817 (2.35:1) or 1920x1080, like I do, you need to always use 1920x1080. However, then you lose the OSD when in 2.35:1 mode on your screen or projector.

I have asked for this a couple times a year for the past few years. Just about every home theater I've been in has a 2.35:1 screen and JRiver doesn't work well on wide aspect ratio screens.

It would be a big plus if this could be changed...please :) A 235:1 mode that puts everything in view when using a scope screen.

This only applies to standard view? Not Theater View?

This request is for Display View.

Even if using theater view when you start a movie and move the mouse to the top or bottom that bar that appears is no longer viewable.
The bottom bar allows you to see aspect ratio, brightness etc. The only way to change one of these settings on a per movie basses is to set your projector back to 16x9 then when done back to 235:1. This is where we need those bars to appear somewhere in the 235:1 picture area.

XMBC has the feature to resize the screen and match it to the display in the software.  I haven't used XMBC for a few years, but I liked that feature.   Currently, I have to resize the desktop with my video card now.

I too would like to see support for 2:35. It is not something that I am currently doing but should be moving in that direction in the next year or so.

I asked for the same thing a little while ago. http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=82996.

Cool ideas from Matt in that thread, but really all i want is to be able to see the seekbar in theaterview.

I don't care whether its per film (like subs) or a global setting.

Surely (as a stop gap) this is trivially easy compared to so many other features in the application.
