Blurry text and graphics
« on: November 16, 2013, 11:56:49 am »

Hi,
I am running MC on two Win 8.1 machines, both with 1920x1080 resolution. But on one of these PCs the MC graphics and text is much more blurry. It really looks bad. What could be the reason?
Thanks!

I'm not sure.

Is it only MC or all programs?  Could you share a screenshot?

You might try another font in Options > Tree & View > Font to see if it makes a difference.

I get the same (Mac) but if you try what Matt suggested it should fix it.  See the attached.

jtwrace, I assume that's not the default font -- it looks much bigger and bolder.

You could also try the new View > Size setting if you want larger text.

For Mac specifically, we're not yet doing Retina-enabled drawing, so text is a little softer than some other apps.  This is coming in the next few months.

You can enable "low resolution mode" to at least disable the filtering OS X will do when upscaling things to sharpen the image a bit. http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=83917.0

It seems to be a non static problem. After a computer restart, the sharpness is back. I also noticed that this blurriness occurred in other applications, for example Windows File Explorer. Very strange...
