Encryption
NTFS can automatically encrypt and decrypt file data as it is read and written to the disk
How do u do this one?

NY40Male:
You can enable encyption in the file properties. Right click the file, click Properties. Now click Advanced and you should have an encyption option listed.

Okay u have me..i looked everywhere..and i dont see anything
im using Windows 2000...i looked at both my NTFS Drives and my FAT32 drives
as usual any help greatly appreciated

In Xp, clicking the Advanced button on the General Tab shows it (File Properties). I would think Win2k would do the same.

Can't help with win2000

but with winxp, right-click on file, select properties, the first tab theat pops up is called "general." On this general tab, there is an "advanced" box at the bottom, and once that is open, you can choose to encrypt the file. I take it that this advanced box isn't there in Win2000?

I use W2K and it's there OK. If you don't have an Advanced button under Properties, it means you aren't using NTFS. Check by selecting the drive and doing Properties. It's under File system
