Video Newbie: Rotate/Change Orientation of .mov Video File
« on: November 12, 2011, 05:38:21 am »

I just got a short .mov file, probably from an iPhone, by email from a friend and tried to play it with MC (I must have set MC to the standard player for such files), but the film is shown in the wrong orientation, landscape instead of portrait. He probably held the iPhone that way when filming. The sound works though.

Is there any way I can change the orientation in MC? I could not see an option for this in MC, although I remember that an Orientation(...) function was added to the expression language recently. I found a 7 year old probably mobile camera  .mov file on my hard drive and MC automatically plays this film in the correct portrait mode just fine.

Anyone can see that the film is not supposed to be played in landscape mode. At least the Quicktime viewer knows how the film should be shown.

Where is this Red October automatic video playback thing when you need it?

Had this same problem and the easiest way is to just tell MC to render with QT.
