Find & Replace tool
« on: January 23, 2014, 07:49:04 pm »

I am trying to change the file name because I copied my music file to a new computer with Windows 8.
The file locations have a slighting different name than the computer where I backed up the library.

The current file name has this as at the front end:
C:\Users\John L. Crowe\Music\

I want to change it to:
C:\Users\John\Music\

when I use the "Find & Replace" option under "Rename, Move, Copy Files", it will not change the name. Nothing happens. I have used this funtion many times before and it worked fine. Not sure why it won't work this time.

Please help

Have you selected Update database mode?

In the Rename, Move & Copy Files tool, use the top-left pull-down.

Update database to point to new location (no file rename, move, or copy).

Morning John, great to see you still using MC after all these years. Glad to hear you're all sorted out now too. Good stuff.
