Media Jukebox gapless playback and Monkey's Audio
« on: February 27, 2002, 08:56:58 am »

Hi guys,

I am running into a problem with compressed files and gapless playback using Media Jukebox. For some reason unknown to me, MJ cuts the end of some songs prematurely, and I don't know if it is a problem with either the compressor or the media player, or just an incompatibility between the two. If I play the single compressed file, it plays back perfectly, and if I play back uncompressed .wav files using gapless playback, the files play fine, but when I use both compression and gapless playback together, this is when I run into problems. I have no programming background, but I get the feeling that there is an interaction between the compression and the cacheing (or is it buffering?) that might be causing issues. Does anyone know of a remedy for my dilemma?

Make sure you're using the latest version of 8.0

Also, make sure "Suppress silence" isn't enabled in Options->Next Pagelayback.

Let us know.

Thanks, Matt,

It looks like the problem has been addressed in the newer betas. I was using 7.2, so I assume that there were problems in that regard. Now I am using 8.0.214, but I am having severe stability issues under Win98SE. I guess I can just wait until 8.0 is finalized. Thanks again for your help.

If it sounds like fun, we'd love to have your help in the beta testing.

Just post bugs in the "Beta Available..." thread.

Thanks.
