Hi-Def through WASAPI
« on: January 21, 2014, 09:10:29 pm »

When I play 24/96 FLAC's with WASAPI set as the audio device playback stops and the program tells me to change back to Redbox CD settings:16/44.1. So I change the setting to Realtek High Definition Audio (direct out) which from what I understand is less than ideal. Anybody have any tips?

Sounds like hardware is the issue not MC software.

Based on my experience here:
[Problem]H87I_Plus HDMI Audio Problem [Solved]
I'd be looking at your motherboard's manual to make sure that side of things is neat and tidy.

I'm set up to export to HDMI that goes into the DAC section of my digital amp. No problem for MC or the amp to work with high res music (at least no outward sign anyway).

WASAPI talks straight to the audio device.
No mixing, no sample rate conversion.
Hence the audio device you are using must support the specific sample rate.
If not, MC will warn you.

What audio device are you using?
What are its properties?

Yup, this would be my suspicion, your hardware doesn't support 96khz and/or 24 bit.

You can still use WASAPI. Just go into the DSP settings and have it resample 96khz to 48khz and/or change the bit depth to 16 bit.
