Tearing on video play back.
« on: January 19, 2014, 05:28:28 am »

What causes this?
This is my video card setting, it happens al all resolutions and frame rate.

And a pic of the manual for my telly regarding HDMI connections.

I am connected to the PC HDMI port in my telly but it happens on all three HDMI ports.

Any ideas?

Which are you using Red October Standard, Red October HQ, or Custom?
Are you using any sync correction settings?
Any automatic display settings changes based on source frame rate?
When you say it happens at all frame rates are you referring to refresh rate of the TV or the frame rate of the source.

I'm using standard, not sure about the rest, basically using jr default settings.
This tearing happens on all my video players , VLC etc. It's not too bad, just irritating.
Becaust it happens on all my players and only on the TV I figure it might be something to do with my TV frame rate or resolution? My TV picture size it set to native but apart from picture size there isnt a great deal more I can do on the TV. Its an old Toshiba Regza LCD about 6 or 7 years old.

I just noticed that the capture above only shows the laptop display.
What are the possible display settings for your TV according to Windows?

The options in my NVIDIA Control Panel are pretty poor, because I am using clone mode there are no options for the TV.

Have you tried using extended mode instead of clone to see if it make a difference?
I have never used clone mode in all of my multi monitor adventures so I don't know if clone can cause undesirable/unusual results.

I have tried it and the tearing has gone, when  it pans across a scene it can be a little jumpy so I will have a play with the refresh rate. I have never used this mode before but it seems ideal for JRiver as it free's up the Laptop making it wife friendly.
Thanks for the help, its greatly appreciated.
