432hz, just read about it, kind of curious....
« on: January 15, 2014, 07:40:08 pm »

I personally think it's a little out there, well, a lot out there, but I'm curious.

There are many examples on the internet about the 432hz vs 440hz, here is one:  http://www.collective-evolution.com/2013/12/21/heres-why-you-should-convert-your-music-to-432hz/

I see that JRiver has a pitch correction, does anyone know what number I would enter to make it shift to that exact figure?

432/440 is .98181818181818181818181818181818181, not sure if that helps at all...

Agreed .. I'm thinking "out there" might be understated.

Well as long as they get the oboist on side ...

but there's enough conjecture over what pitch the orchestra should tune to already in music circles and it appears that there has been for some time:

Thanks for putting a   :o    in my day. Nice.

I did this a while ago by loading a track into Audacity and saving as a new file using the Change Pitch option.  8)

I prefer 7Hz, really helps me stay regular.  :-*

The early classical above middle C, A = 432 Hz, can sound more pleasing on the ear than the early last century standardized A = 440 Hz, YMMV
Closest you can get in JRiver is 'Pitch' down -0.02x. The pitching quality in JRiver is not perfect, some artifacts, but still fun to play with.

Hey, why stop at 432? My 1924 piano was pitched at 420Hz. The lower the better....

French baroque pitch is 392. More and more instruments are made for this very specific repertoire. It is still often performed at the standard baroque pitch of 415, but historic period organs as well as French early music specialists group such as "Les musiciens du Louvre" actually perform at 392. Pitch in Mantua and Venice at that time may have been as much as a whole tone higher than 440. Being a travelling musician in those days was certainly a challenge!
