Oh, I see what you mean.  It is only a setting that affects the view when active.  Set the mode, and save the view.  It will then be retained.

Thanks. I found it was sufficient just to set the mode. Seems it is auto-saved.

Which is just as well, because I can find no command to save the view. It would be nice to know where that it. Workaround: alter another view variable, switch views, and accept the prompt's offer.
