Scratching noise between tracks...

I have set up JRiver as a DLNA server on my Mac Mini and connect it directly via CAT 6 Ethernet cable to my Resolution Audio Cantata player. I can play files via the Mini or JRemote. However, there are some files where I hear a scratching noise between songs. Sometimes it is somewhat loud and other times softer. It doesn't happen on all files, nor is it limited to WAV or AIFF. It doesn't seem to matter what the sample rate is either. Wondering if anyone has any ideas what might be causing this.
