who maintains the jriver wiki?
« on: January 24, 2014, 01:00:47 am »

Hi,
Im current trialling jriver v19 and have been actively surfing the jriver wiki and forums to learn more about the specific features and settings with jriver, specificaly in relation to watching videos & tv shows, and configuring theater view.

In my surfing, I have found a few instances of details on wiki pages that are not correct, most probably due to an upgrade since the wiki page was written

Id like to see the wiki page updated, and id be more than happy to update it myself, but I cant seem to find how to go about getting the page updated.

Can someone let me know how to get the wiki updated?
Thanks

JRiver and a few old timers do.  Post your updates in. A thread, and probably someone will work with you on updating.  It would be worthwhile to indicate which sections or pages you are referring to.

As per MrC - let us know, there have been a bunch of updates on the Wiki in the last week (archiving old stuff, updating etc) but please let us know what is out of date.

Ok, I'll post them when I find them..... I dont remember them all....

The latest I found was on this page. http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/TV_Shows_-_Series,_Seasons_%26_Episodes
There is a number of references to mc17, but the menu path to set the file caption for theater view (towards the bottom of the page) is no longer correct.

I eventually found this post which explained where it is set now

Great to see another Wiki lover. Keep it up.

Versioning catches the Wiki out here and there. In most cases it's not too hard to work out provided the base content is there. Underlines the need for well thought out change. I reckon Jim, Matt and the crew do a pretty good job.

I find that many of the Wiki entries are minimalist and by keeping an eye the forum, I'll find out about an extension to MC's functionality that takes it from basic to power use. With a collaborative effort and constructive contribution the loose ends do come together.

The other thing you need is some patience. I leave comments to update the Wiki with the recognition that response will depend on day to day priority.

Don't forget the Search at the bottom of the MC options window it has helped me find something from time to time.

Heres another wiki update request.....
The page that explains the settings under Tools >  Options > Theater view needs some updates.......
The page I'm referring to is. ://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Theater_View

A number of the settings do not provide any information on what it is that they do, and while some self explanatory, some really are not.
Even just a little bit of a description would help, as I'm okay to do some trial and error, but with some settings, I have no idea what im looking for.
Eg: switch to zone on load, tag menu fields, allow special handling on media insertion, etc, etc :) :)

The list of settings is also a little out of date with the latest version of jriver.
File caption is no longer a setting under Advanced
Use alternate navigation model has been removed from under Advanced

turn off numlock on load has been added under Advanced
use fullscreen exclusive mode for drawing has been added under Advanced
