ROHQ madVR OSD does not work
« on: February 03, 2014, 05:30:25 pm »

If you use RO HQ for playback, you can use the Ctrl-J shortcut to show a informational OSD, which will tell you if any frames are being dropped - if not, all 60 are rendered.
I have tried dozens of things suggested in older threads, and I have never been able to get the madVR stats OSD to display even once:

* Windowed or Exclusive
* Remote controls on or off (in MC19)
* madVR settings box visible or not
* focus setting (in madVR settings) ticked or not
* Changed keyboard shortcut to Alt-J or Ctrl-Alt-J

Any other ideas ?
Thanks !

Do have something running in the background that could be eating the command?  RC software etc?

Focus setting not ticked and something other than MC in focus is the only way I can get it to come up.

For what it's worth, I had the exact same problem for about six months last year.  The OSD had worked for me at one point, but then it stopped, and I tried all the steps you describe and just couldn't get the OSD to display.  I eventually gave up on ever seeing the MadVR OSD again.  Humorously, upgrading to MC19 fixed it for me (with no other settings changes), which suggests that there was a MadVR or JRiver setting nerfed somewhere that got replaced/overwritten with the new install.

If I had the same problem today, I'd probably try uninstalling and reinstalling and seeing if that helps.

Some people reported that it stopped working when you enable remote support in MC (ie. in Remote Control -> Devices, select "Remote, keyboard, gamepad or other HID").

I wonder if we can add a shortcut and tell madVR to enable the OSD, instead of hoping that madVR gets the key press somehow.

That was the final thing I tried, but it did not help.

Would that require a change by madshi ?

For example, adding to the madVR tray icon menu, an item "Toggle OSD" would do it.

That's a new one.

In previous threads, I saw "Focus setting ticked and madVR settings dialog in focus is the only way..." from a couple of people.

I use MC19 in fullscreen for video, so I will have to try turning off fullscreen to get something else in focus...

UPDATE:  That worked !   Thanks to scolex and Fangio for the suggestion.

(Someone in another thread mentioned a GPU usage stat, but I don't see one - perhaps it is Nvidia only ?)

There is no GPU usage stat. It does, however, tell you the average rendering time which is similar.
