On WinXP, using MJ 8.0.211, I cannot duplicate the problem you report (copied below).  Please supply info on your OS.  Try on another machine if possible.  It's a good report, by the way.


Your report in the bug thread:

For Virtual Sub and Surround Field -
1. Select the DSP icon and the menu appears
2. Select Virtual Sub or Surround Field and the drop down appears
3. Make a selection from the drop down and the description DOES change to your selection
4. If DSP was off, the action of step 3 WILL TURN IT ON
So far, no problem....

ForEnvoronment, Intelli-Volume and Replay Gain -
1. Select the DSP icon and the menu appears
2. Select Environment, Intelli-Volume or Replay Gain and the drop down appears
3. Make a selection from the drop down and the description DOES'NT change to your selection
4. If DSP was off, the action from Step 3 WILL NOT TURN IT ON

It's been this way (I'm pretty sure) since the first v8 beta. The sound card is, I think, VIA Sound System 7000. The reason I sound not too sure about this is because I believe it's built into the mother board (as you can tell, I'm not the greates pc boffin around), so, apologies if I sound confused but that's what shows if I go to Control Panel/Audio Devices. I've followed pretty much all the betas and have installed/uninstalled various times for other reasons but still no joy with DSP. I've not had any probs with the sound card previously and it has the latest driver attached. I hope you may shed some light on this prob and will be happy to supply any other info if you need it

Check carefully to see if any other DSP or sound program is running.

Perhaps other people can confirm that it is or is not working.

Hi Jim

Spot-on old chap. Well done. I took a look at everything that was running but did'nt think that any of the 'resident' programs looked a likely candidate. So, using the Close Program feature (alt/ctrl/del) I closed everything down except for explorer and systray. Opened up MJ and Bingo, away we went playing DSPish things to our heart's content. I'll have to revisit and close them down singly to see which app is the offender but unfortunately, I'm off to work now and won't be able to do that until tomorrow. I'll come back to you then when I've isolated the rogue. In the meantime, thanks for your time on this one - finally I'll be able to play with Replay Gain

Wondering if there is anyway for MJ to determine this automatically, and post some kind of message, and/or take the necessary program cancellation action/option?

Hi Jim

I've been following Easyrider on the parallel thread and mine is just the same - Logitech MouseWare 8.35. Disabling it then enables DSP ( I also lose control of the mouse roller wheel). This I can quite happily live with but if you happen to know the connection between these two areas I'd be very interested if you could spare a coupla mins to post it. That said, I'm grateful for your help - it's always been a maxim of mine to go straight to the man at the top - he always knows the answers !!!
