SInce the topic is locked, here's my reply to your question: "So, how did you set it up in MediaJukeBox to handle your issue #2?"

Bob, In MJ8, every smartlist is also created in a " filter which is a part of the program and listed. The filter gives several options including "skip" Therefore, by clicking on any list, including the whole contents of the Library, I can "skip" any category, in my case for 6 - 8 weeks/year, that includes "Christmas."  I'm sort of surprised that this part of the program was not carried through into all of the subsequent versions of MC. And Christmas includes all songs containing the genre Christmas such as Christmas Barbershop, Christmas Barbershop Quartet, Christmas Barbershop Chorus, Christmas Jazz, etc. In the case of Julie London's "I'd Like You For Christmas," I had to enter it twice so it wouldn't be deleted in Romance songs. Hers is a voice any man could curl up in... "For Christmas, Easter, too."

So, been back and forth with Windows testing new madVR.....getting back over here.  I run server mode, so admittedly, haven't actually seen MC for a few builds....what are you looking for here?

What I notice is that if I click just under the top of the window frame, it maximizes.  Resizing works only if I hold down ALT at the bottom corners.  Also, there seems to be a weird delay and I get some weird flashing of the MC window and then it goes through these resize gyrations. 

I'm on KDE 4.12.1.

Before the last change, windows weren't being focused properly. There was a bit of a random focus based on who created the window.
The changes might not be really obvious but they affect any window that we created. This means, for example, dialog boxes, tooltips, message boxes, etc.
One thing I've noticed is that the highlighting of tracks being played seems to work properly now as the track advances.
Now that I think it's pretty stable, I'm working through the unimplemented parts of the UI and I expect a lot of the UI problems will just shake out as the functions get implemented.

Tagging in the "Action - window" is not possible.

HI,

I don't appear to be having any focus issues.  However resizing is very slow and it takes a while to respond after making changes.  Not sure if that relates to focus issues.  Running Mint 16, x64.

Are unimplemented functions for drag and drop.

The tagging and moving are known problems.
Moving I think is sampling too often. It's really painful on the desktops that use compiz.

If you use the system resize and move (right-click on the active icon depending on your desktop) it works fine.

Try quick search, it works great. The upper right corner search is getting focus stolen by the suggestions. Likely because they are showing up as a window and shouldn't.

Works fine on other distros, though the icon won't hang around on compiz desktops. Try dragging the MC app icon to the bar for launching. Other than that YMMV if you aren't using Debian.

I'm counting on 109 to fix those. If you start mediacenter19 from a terminal screen you can see the traceback from a crash which can be really useful in pinning down trouble as well.
