Just updated Media Centre to 19.0.114 on my PC (Windows 8.1) because I was excited to see the HTTP video streaming option for Gizmo. I updated Gizmo on my mobile as well, and rebooted both PC and mobile.

Unfortunately the HTTP streaming option isn't working on my Sony Xperia Z1 which has had a problem with playing videos from the day I got the Xperia Z1 5 months ago. When I click on a video thumbnail in Gizmo, a dialogue appears stating "Preparing ..." and after a few seconds it disappears and the screen returns to the thumbnails.

I had an Xperia Acro S previously and never had a problem with Gizmo. WebGizmo works without any problems. And other HTTP streaming apps on my Xperia Z1, like BeyondPod and Chrome, are working fine.

Hope this can be solved.

Do you have "Use HTTP Live Streaming" checked in the Gizmo Options?

I experience this same issue with my Xperia Z1 playing videos, maybe MC/Gizmo is not up to speed in supporting Android ver 4.4.2

I do all my testing on a Nexus 4 and 5, among other older devices, so its safe to say the latest version of Android is always well supported.
Its far more likely that Sony did something weird to their OS, but without the actual device at hand, I'm not sure what else to do.

We've recently made a few improvements in MC itself for video streaming, so in case you're not running the latest version yet, I can only recommend to update both MC and Gizmo to latest.

Updated both. I can play video but only through the flashfox not through gizmo

Thanks for your response Hendrick, good to know the latest version of Android is supported so I guess this issue is confined to some difference in Sony's implementation of the OS.
There doesn't appear to be any updates available at this time beyond what I'm currently running (MC19.0.136 / Gizmo 19.0.134). I will occasionally test with further updates and let you know if the issue clears.

Still not working with the latest versions including a new update for the Xperia Z1 to 14.3.A.0.757 (Android 4.4.2) but it will now reliably crash Gizmo when attempting to play "Here"

Press the menu button on the phone. Try changing the options there.

My experience is that Gizmo does not work to play video on the Sony Xperia Z1, it displays "Preparing..." indefinitely with occasional pop down error display "Error communicating with server". Gizmo will work to play video in other zones other than "Here" (on device).
There's a similar problem with playing audio, but on rare random occasions it will play audio on the device.

In the case of WebGizmo, Audio works, but video doesn't.

I still cant connect with Gizmo always has preparing then jumps back to the menu.

still wont play movies but I can view photos.

I can watch movies through the webgizmo go figure

How do I sort photos in date order on gizmo?
