problem with audio tracks on ripped DVDs

I've copied several DVDs to my server as DVD Video so I can have full use of the menu structure.  I can't use the OSD to switch between audio tracks.  Looking at the video through other media players, I notice that instead of listing the tracks by language, they both say "undefined".  Could this be why the Languages portion of the OSD & menu shows as blank?  Is there any workaround?
