Separate Volume Control Settings for Video and Music?
« on: April 23, 2014, 09:08:42 am »

I have successfully used the volume leveling and adaptive volume controls to normalize the gain on video audio that is downmixed for my two channel system.     While it works great for video sources I don't like what it does to music.   Problem is the volume controls appear to be global settings.   Is there no way to just use these settings for video and have them turned off for music without having to manually turn them on or off each time I play video or music?

You can set up separate zones for audio and video, and use a Zone Switch rule based on [Media Type] to automatically send audio/video to each.

This will let you have different settings for each type of content. (and separate "now playing" lists too)

This will work at the same location and same hardware?

Yes, you can have multiple zones set up that uses the same hardware - it won't play to both at the same time if you have zone switch set up.
