Off Topic - Notable Event tomorrow
« on: February 19, 2002, 12:28:51 pm »

Here's one of those email things floating around the internet that I thought was worth noting..  If I hadn't received it I would have never thought about it..

=========================
LAST IN AN ETERNITY EVENT
At 8:02 PM (8 PM is 20: hours on the Greenwich or military clock scale)
on the 20th of February, a twice in eternity thing will happen and you
are here to witness it.

As the clock ticks over from 8:01 PM on Wednesday, February 20th,
2002, time will (for sixty seconds only) read in perfect symmetry. To be more
precise: 20:02, 20/02, 2002. It is an event which has only ever happened
once before in eternity and is something that will never happen again.

The last occasion that time read in such a symmetrical pattern was
long before the days of the digital watch (or the 24-hour clock): 10:01AM,
on January 10, 1001. And because the clock only goes up to 23:59, it is
something that will never happen again!

SO, ENJOY THE "LAST IN AN ETERNITY" EVENT!

Of course it only works in Europe, where they list the day before the month. Over here in the states, we never got one, since our calendar system wasn't in use on this land mass in the year 1001.

And what about the Chinese? And the Jews? Or anybody else that doesn't use the same calendar system.

Looks like the world is only going to end for Europe. Next Page

Define perfect symmetry please?
If you mean a palindrome (same forward as backwards), we get loads of those.
20:02, 10/01, 2002 was the last one that springs to mind.

If you mean repeating and reversing pairs, we get another at
21:12, 21/12, 2112

Personally, I'm aiming to see
22:22, 2/2, 2222

Matt
Last friday was 3 adar 5762.Adar is the name of a month.5762 is the year according to jewish tradition.Means that 5752 years before this very time god created word in seven days.If you stick to it,no black hole,no big-bang-NO DINOSAUR.Only integrist religious use this calendar
We use the christian calendar, like you in USA.We call it christian calendar because the sylverster party is one week after Christmass. One week after birth[christmass] we circoncise the male new born[sylverster-new year].So your new eve party celebrate the circoncision of jesus
Because hebrew was for centurys a dead language, never was the need to use numbers instead of names for months. On top of it   there is only 24 hours in a day,and we are in 5762 so no way  a "last in an eternity even"with the jewish calendar
anyway we have a lot of "last in an eternity even" here. But there is a bug, they repeat
themself

listening to "a ** shel lucy 'israeli punk demo tape

themself
themself
