I had some tracks that I imported into MJ8 from vinyl and went through Properties and added Artist/Album info on each track (several whole albums).  Then I moved the MP3s to another drive and reimported them to a new library...only about half of them showed up in the new library with Artist/Album info that I had put in original library. It wasn't wholealbums that were missing Artist info...just parts of each one.  I went back to orig library and they were properly categorized there.

Any idea what gives?

I had the same problem. It was certain songs that just couldn't keep the tag. I did the remove tag option and redid them. Cleared the library, redid everything. So far it seems to be working fine.

It could be a bug either in writing or reading the tag. I'm using ID3v2 tags created by MJ.

Glad to know it's not just me...I don't have the ID3v2 box checked. Do you think that would help?
