Recording in MJ8.207
« on: February 15, 2002, 04:44:24 pm »

When I try to record now I get a kernel 32 error and am forced to close mj. The previous version worked great.

Found out when I try to record and encode in mp3 I get a kernel 32 error. It works in wma format. I have purchased a license and the restore license is grayed out so my license must be in effect. Please help as I want to get back to mp3 recording.

The encoder you need to use is the "MP3 encoder for version 8", not the Lame encoder.  It is Lame.

That is the encoder I am using. Tried reloading it again but still same kernel 32 message and mj closes.

The other encoders don't work either. Only wma works. Just like before I purchased my license. Are you sure it isn't a license problem

I think I was able to resore my license. But it still wont record in mp3 or any thing else other than wma. I'm wasting a weekend of recording.

Did you try reinstalling MJ?  Download the full package from the thread on 8.0.207.

I have reinstalled it twice using the link you said. Also reinstalled the encoder. Wish I had stayed with the earlier 8.0 version as it worked great.

deerhunter,
I think that what JimH was trying to tell you is that you don't need to Down Load any MP3 encoders!  The Lame encoder that works with MJ8.0 is build into the software and does not need to be downloaded from the plug-ins page.  Try to uninstall MJ, then re-install it without installing the MP3 encoder from the MJ plug-ins page and see if that works for you.

I tried to reinstall it but the link  given in the interact web site didn't work anymore. Also when I first upgraded to mj8.207 there was no mp3 encoder listed so I downloaded the one for mj8. There were the other encoders listed. Still none of them work except wma. I will try the check for updates but will that uninstall the one I have? The wma encoder worked great and the recordings I made sounded great but I still want them in mp3.
I love the program! (check for updates said no updates available at this time)

I've had a similar prob with downloading and applying plugins and encoders. I posted a query a few weeks back to which KingS responded. His advice was to delete all Windows Temp files. I thought this sounded a bit drastic so had a look through the temp folders and found all manner of plugins and encoders sitting there. So, I followed his advice and deleted the appropriate folders and then reinstalled MJ8 and, for me, it worked. Might be worth a try. Might be worth sifting through the forum and seeing if you can find the original post - I can't remember what the name of the topic was - good luck.

KingS - I forgot to come back on that one and say thanks - so, thanks a lot - you're a damned fine fellow !!!!!!

I can confirm Deerhunters kernal 32 problem because I am getting the same thing myself when trying to record from the line in. There was no problem with recording before the last beta.
