new system will not playback cd's --wrong config'
« on: June 20, 2014, 10:01:43 am »

New computer, new to JRiver, audio card is an Asus xonar essence ST with proper dirivers. I'm getting this message when I attempt to play a cd.

"something went wrong with the playback. It couldn't be started on the output 44.1khz 2ch. This output may not be supported by your hardware. Use DSP studio to change the output to a compatible format and be sure that your system has a valid sound playback device that is properly configured in playback options"  I believe I have all the proper hardware and the xonar ST is certainly a proper audio card so can anyone provide assistance in getting my audio playback working. I can figure out how to use MC on my own but the set up is pretty much beyond me.

thanks

Start with "Default Audio Device (Direct Sound)" in Options > Audio.  Once that is working, move on to more complicated outputs.
