License Restore
« on: February 13, 2002, 08:00:11 am »

I have paid for MJ, I had to reformat my laptop, I used the backup up MediaJukebox7.RRG file I made. I'm using version 7.2.280. Whenever I restore it says "Registration Information Restored!" but it's not, I can't use any plus features, they all say my 30 day trial has expired.

I've searched the forums, I've removed illegal characters from the registry key, I can't restore from a floppy, my laptop doesn't have one.

Now what?

Thanks in advance.

Does your laptop have a CD drive? Can you find someone to transfer the license file from the floppy to a CD-R for you?

a laptop without a floppy, never heard of it

you could try the mj8 beta also to see if that helps, since the rrg file will work on mj8

Burning the license to a CD wouldn't make any difference would it?, I have a copy of the license on my desktop but I still get the errors I'm reporting.

Laptops without floppies are common and will get more so. Mine is a Sony Vaio and the floppy is left out to save weight I guess. I could have bought it as a USB add on but it was nearly $100.

So can anyone tell me how I can use the software I've paid for? Is the fact I'm not trying to restore from a floppy the issue or a red herring. I ask because I read on the forum that one of the problems might be not using a floppy for restore.

Have you tried an uninstall/reinstall?

Dirk Gently

i never had a problem restoring from a cd-rom or hard drive (not that i do it every day)

it may be a red herring but i know JimH has said try from a floppy, so there must be an issue with some systems

about the floppy, i guess i know mac has dumped it. i think it should be dumped infavor of a zip drive

OK, I've now un-installed and re-installed MJ. Same issue. I get a dialog saying "Registration Information Restored!" but none of the features are available to me, under "Help" "Restore License" is available and "Backup License" is greyed out.

I need technical support, how do I get it? I bought MJ to use the Plus features, all the features that are unavailable.

I would backup everything first. Uninstall again. Clean out the registry..may have to manually delete the J River Key.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver

Then reinstall. Reboot if necessary..

Are you running XP? Mega-Me skin off? (shouldn't be there but King had an issue with it on)

Make sure the file name is the same as what you posted in the first message.

If that doesn't work. Upgrade to 8.0. I think the reg will work with it for free? right guys?

I've restored my license over a network. Worked just fine. Could probably share the drive that the reg is on and then restore it using \comuter\drive\file.rrg. Maybe that would work.

I'm out of ideas.

If you send me the "MediaJukebox7.rrg" file I'll take a look at it.

Dragyn

that is because i had Media Jukebox Set to Windows 2000 Compatable Mode, And MJ thought it was ok to keep the mega-me skins on. I am not sure if it is fixed, but when i set it back to windows XP compatibility the mega-me option went away.
