Because I've been unable to access CDDB, I tried manually updating the file and album info for a disc I want to rip and encode to mp3.

However, on the CDDB Disc Information window, it won't let me add any values to the genre. Not that I care about the genre necessarily, but when I click OK, it says Please Enter a Genre.

So, I'm apparently unable to manually specify all the information that I would otherwise get from CDDB (if I could only figure out what's going on with my proxy settings).

Any ideas?

I'm using 7.2 on Windows 2000.

if you click on "update from CDDB" you can

if you click on "CDDB disk Info" you can't

On Current Version MJ beta 8

Well, I was on 7.2, and I have tried the beta 8, but it crashes every time I try to access my CD drive. Tries to read some memory, but can't read it, so it crashes. Also crashes every time it fails to access CDDB, which is every time (I'm still working on figuring out my proxy configuration -- I've tried all the same proxy configurations that are used in IE and Netscape, etc.).

So, back to 7.2, how do I workaround the original problem?

I have just installed MJ7.2 on Win95 and have the same problem with manually editing track information into CDDB (I keep getting that "Please enter a genre" pop-up). Why should I need to update my CDDB registration when I just registered yesterday?
