DLNA Playlist Problems
« on: September 06, 2015, 09:07:12 am »

I did a search on this and found a similar topic from 2012 (which was discussing a prior version of MC)...

I have an ASUS wireless repeater that supports DLNA. This is connected via 1/8" to my input on a receiver. I am able to send tracks for playback, but when I send a playlist, it only plays one track and stops. When viewing the tracks on my main MC PC, I see the playlist and when the current song ends, the play time continues to run (for example, I will see 3:45 / 3:02 (and counting) under the song playing) and the next track never starts.

Is this a problem with my ASUS device? Maybe there is a setting I need to flip to have the device report back to MC?

Any thoughts /  suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Two things:

1. What is the music format of the tracks you are trying to push?

2. Can you please download the DMRA test application from my sig, run the test against your renderer, and post the test log file here.

I am primarily playing MP3s, but there are some .flac files as well. I see no difference between either.

When I run your program, the only thing it is finding is my pc running JRiver, my Samsung TV and My media center, but I don't see the ASUS Repeater. I assume the renderer for the point of this exercise is the ASUS Repeater, correct?

Er, if the DMRA cannot find your device, that is a good sign that something's is not working right..

What is its model number and specification; can you give me a URL?

It's the ASUS RP-N53.

I noticed this morning that the firmware was outdated so I am in the process of updating it now.

Hmm. In the specification link that you sent me, it does not even claim to be UPnP / DLNA compatible. So I think you may be lucky if it even works partly (albeit with errors). Can you confirm that the device does indeed appear in MC under the Playing Now tree?

Welllllll...

As of yesterday, it was working - it wasn't working correctly, but music was playing through it.

It did show up in the MC20 tree as "RP-N53" (and then some other characters after it...)

This morning, I looked on ASUS's support page and it looked like the drivers were dated (and the newer versions discussed fixing problems with audio playback), so I updated them and essentially bricked my repeater. Device turns on, but cannot be access or paired with my network.

Needless to say, I am a bit peeved right now.

I'm looking for a decent, cheap option to just play through an analog input on an old amplifier - any suggestions?
