Very Rude Online Public Relations
« on: February 12, 2002, 11:31:06 am »

Hello
I have asked management two questions about
problems I was having  with jukebox .One
I asked when I first bought it in the fall 2001 .
I asked a question about my username and password.
The reply was, a message one person had sent to the
another person that was added to and then sent to me.
One thing that was in the message that one sent to
the other was, will somebody take care of this guy.
That was rude ,to me. What the message ended up
doing was just pointing out a web page that didn't
answer my question at all.It was like the didn't
want to be botherd.
The other question I asked was a couple of days ago.
My computer crashed , and I had to reformat my hard
drive. So I asked about getting my media juke box back
to the way it was , with all the features and plus
features I got when I paid for it. Again they just
pointed me to a web page that said , to back up license
incase my computer crashes or I loss my data.
I don't remember the computer prompting me to do that
like they told me it did. If it was made clear to me
that I needed to do that , I would have. Now if  I
want all the features back , I have to pay for it all over
again.Something Just don't seem right about that.

re your second post--a couple of hours ago I noticed that it had no responses, so I was going to reply that I've never had enough foresight to be that organized, and that I typically just wait until the drive crashes and then start over. I figured that one of two things would happen if I posted: either others would respond with helpful info, or others would follow my lead and we'd head down the off-topic "crashed hard drive" path. I don't remember your first question. Did I mess that one up?

re backing up liscenses--you get plenty of warnings. Believe me, I know, 'cause I saw plenty of them after my hard drive crashed recently I had to buy a new license (my back up floppy was no longer good for reasons having to do with putting it in the garage and living in the desert, and my second copy was no good because . . . well, you get  the idea, I'm sure).

Okay, seriously now...

First of all, you have to keep in mind that not everybody here works for JRiver. Most of us are users just like you, and are in no way required to be polite. But barring that, I just want to address this :

Hello

Without being able to actually see this email you're talking about, it sounds to more like the person who received the email COULDN'T help you. Probably because they just didn't know the answer. So they asked "Can somebody help this guy?" I say this, based on my experience with dealing with these guys. They are very responsive to their users.

As for your second question... listen to the song I posted a link to above. It pretty much sums it up.

I'm not going to get into another of these lost license debates.

Here is a copy of the text in the emailed receipt for every purchase.

Thank you for your purchase.

You may want to print and save this receipt for your records.

Thank you for your purchase.  Your software is now unlocked.

A backup copy of the license should be made to floppy
disk since it can be used to upgrade a downloaded
version in the event of a disk crash.  This backup contains
personal information, including credit card, so it
should not be shared.  License Backup and License Recovery
are both under Help in the program.

Steve,
Thanks for your softened position.  I'm from JRiver.  This is the best source of help we can provide and we get a lot of help from our friends.

Posting a question on Interact will usually get a reply.  If not, bump it up by adding a blank reply.  You can help by keeping separate questions in separate threads and giving them a subject that describes the problem (not "Help!!!!").  Including your OS and version of MJ is important.

Thanks again,

Jim

The Chills - Male Monster From The Id (1992)

There's a part of me--it's in disguise
Though I'll fight to see it won't arise
I'd avoid your eyes--denying
Something dark and primal's surviving

I have another side I try to hide
It cannot escape 'cause if it tries
There are defenses raised around it
For I chose to keep it surrounded

Chorus:
Gotta stay on guard always
Wanna keep my caveman hidden
Everyone has some off-days when
  we make bad decisions
Each Man I've seen has some animal
  behaviour in him
Some can conceal better--The Male Monster
  from the Id . . .

Got out--destroyed his cage
Saying thoughtless things in mindless rage
And I've seen him harm those I'm close to
With his charms he's so hard to see through

(chorus)

I hurt you--I'm sorry, and I promise
   I won't do it again
And I'm mending all my errors--I really am . . .

But my Mr. Hyde--he lies and lies
He'd take a superman to supervise
But imagine all the damage
if the hidden man that took lives in
   Forbidden Planet survives   http://www.tranquility.net/~benedict/forbiddenplanet.html

I'm not like that everyday--I'm not normally that way
You need convincing I can tell--I don't say this very well . . .
But I'm sorry I hurt you, and I promise I won't do it again
I'm mending all my errors . . .

Michael,
Is there something you'd like to talk about?  How are you feeling?  Any hair growing in odd places?

it's in my head

it's in my head

it's in my head

then I got really REALLY ANGRY

and I realized

that I really need to destroy the planet

Then there are those hairs that grow off the back of people's ears.  Especially bald guys.
