Hi, what would be the most easy way to do the following :

1) i have a lot of jpg images that i import into jriver  .. those jpg images represent mechanical parts..

2) the file name for each image contains the   partnumber   (e.g. 123456.jpg    or 4585995.jpg)

3) i have an xls spreadsheet which contains more details for each part such as color, category, price etc

My question : how can i fill the tags in jriver for each image/part based on the content of my xls   (if required i can create a csv etc)

the lookup key would be the unique partnumber that is part of the image file (filename) and present as a column in the xls file

the other way around would be to generate an MPL file from the content of the xls database .. import that as a playlist .. and somehow relate the correct image to each entry ...?? i have no idea if that would be possible and how to link them ..

i found a way ...

1) rename all image files to <Album Artist> - <Album>.jpg
2) place all these files in the Albums coverart directory
3) create a MPL with all tags that you want to add  and set the Media Type to "Audio"  and ensure that "Album Artist" and "Album" are in line with the one specified in the image file name 
4) import the playlist and the image file is added automatically..

not very neat imho .. but it works

it seems not possible to do this when the Media Type = Data ... ??

are there any other more clean ways to do this ??

i.e.. lookup tag values in an external file based on the image file name
