Spotify integration

Acrobat1977:
Some way of integrating Spotify and be able to use it with JRemote would be great! I would even pay for an additional license if necessary. (I don't know if Spotify Connect requires a license to implement)

This has been asked about and investigated some time ago.

Here's a previous query:

that refers to an even more previous query.

I'd expect that the state of play hasn't changed except that this sort of functionality should help:

MrHaugen:
I think we could circumvent the limitations if a user created the plugin. The main problem though, is that the creation of a Spotify integration in theater view for us normal users would be pretty tricky I think. An integration in Standard View should be much simpler, but less cool and useful imo.

glynor:
A user-created plugin would work, as was discussed here:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=85716.msg585798#msg585798

But JRiver can't do it themselves.

6233638:
Could they not build a separate and free plugin for the program?
Media Center costs money, but the plugin would not, and would not be distributed with the program.
