Empty Playlist on Sansa Clip +
« on: June 16, 2012, 10:43:20 am »

Hello, I'm using MC 17.0.165.

For the first time today, I transferred a playlist to my Sansa Clip+.  Although the music transferred properly, when I access the playlist on the device, it is empty.

There is a .m3u file on the root of the device.  The file contains a list of the tracks.  Here's a few lines:

Code: [Select]
.\MUSIC\Mozart (Mitsuko Uchida)\Mozart Piano Sonatas CD1\05 - Sonata in F, K280,189e - II. Adagio.mp3
.\MUSIC\Mozart\Le Quatuor Talich - Integrale des Quatuors (Disc 7)\10 Mozart - 10 Quatuor K.170 - Menuetto.mp3
.\MUSIC\Artur Rubinstein\Artur Rubinstein - The Chopin Collection (CD04)\07 - Mazurka No. 1 in B major, Op. 56.mp3
.\MUSIC\Scott Joplin\The Red Back Book\Sun Flower Slow Drag.mp3

I found this post which suggest that perhaps a problem developed after a recent build: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=70287.0

I got the idea from reading this post, http://schworak.com/blog/e39/m3u-play-list-specification/ , That perhaps the '.\' in the path was not required or desired.

After eliminating that bit from each line, the playlist is working properly.

You can have this handled automatically. In the options for your Clip, set the playlist format to: M3U (relative paths without leading dots)

Thank you for the playlist tip above! Was getting pretty frustrated with my new Clip Sport purchase. For those with the new Clip Sport, you must update the firmware with the updater as well. Now everything finally working right. Great little players with excellent sound quality.
