Editing all Names
« on: February 09, 2002, 08:07:14 am »

I'm trying to edit all of my track names simultaneously. I stupidly added track numbers to the beginning of the track names and now I'd like to remove them en mass. I'm thinking

Rename Files from Properties -> Name
then just somehow remove all digits from start of filename and then
Fill Properties from Filename -> Name

Any easier way (application, MJ?) to do this?

Thanks.

the track# at the beginning of the song name--is that showing up in the ID3 tags, the windows filenames (for the mp3 or whathaveyou in widows explorer), or both?

Both. I (stupidly) inserted the track numbers by hand, believe it or not, for the past year's worth of ripping (wanted to organize multi-cd albums - 1.01...2.01,2.02,...). Now I want them gone.

although troublesome now, inserting the track#s wasn't stupid at the time

some folks here do it for keeping track order for some reason unknown to me

(I'm not stuck on album track orders, I guess 'cause I don't listen to any concept albums, and I don't rip my classical albums)

anyway, I'm just rambling now because I haven't though of an easy way for you to achieve your ends
