License Problems
« on: August 28, 2014, 11:12:10 am »

I have tried responding to the email I got for my MC license for version 20 but nobody responded. I have tried to renew my license multiple times, but I get the same thing, an error that says my licence is no good for that version of JRM (20). So now what?

What are you trying to purchase?  Which OS?  Are you using the right license?  You can't upgrade a license for one OS to a different OS.

This is in the linux section, so I'm assuming you're talking about a linux license.  If you're on a non-Debian linux distro, check out this stickied thread: http://yabb.JRiver.com/interact/index.php?topic=89893.0

Try the command line option, I've had an easier time with it on non-Debian distros.

EDIT: Jim beat me to the punch

Yes this is a Linux (Mint 17) distro. I have the email with the "Here is a Registration Code for MC20 for Linux:"

It wont work from the GUI and the command line instructions indicate I need the .mjr - there is none. And when I go to the license renewal page, I get an email with my (Windows and Linux) licenses for 19.

Could a more messed up process have been created?

There is a build of MC20 for Linux at the top of this board.

You have the e-mail with your Linux 20x license?  That E-mail should have the .mjr attachment;  I just checked and mine definitely did FWIW.

Nope, Received August 12th from "Deanna Mans" (deanna at JRiver) with NO attachment. Emails back to her do not get a response.

Thanks for your purchase of JRiver Media Center 19 for Linux.  We're beginning development of the next version and would like to offer you a free upgrade.

Here is a Registration Code for MC20 for Linux:

    XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

Why not just perform a restore to get a new .mjr file?

Obviously as a long time MC users I KNOW about the license restoration process. When I go through it I get an email with licenses for Windows and Linux version 19 and NOT 20. And no attachment.

Have you tried opening MC and manually inputting your license? Or copy and paste if you have that enabled.

Yes I have tried manually entering the license sent to me, but I got it working now. When I tried to manually enter the licence it launched a browser and too me to the License Restore Page. When I entered the 20 license I was given it took me to a form to create another account. The first time I ignored this since it NEVER happened before and there was no clear indication as to why this form appeared and I did not want to create a second account, or whatever. Like I said this NEVER showed up before. But this time I decided to put in just the minimum info - name, email and password, and I then got a new code and the mjr which I installed from the shell.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions
