still no sound from dts 5.1 channel in wav - LAV problem

(1/5) > >>

Ninouchka:
well, the title says it all, I have a lot of dts cd/dvds only audio, and MC20 gives only static noise.
I checked for dts, wav, and wavpack, mediacenter internal.
Playing via analog, ASIO, Steinberg MR816x. Tried all other options, wasapi, direct sound, nothing, Always the static noise,
mediainfo sees the the dts compression in the wav files, but says that their is no codec installed.
I thought this was a standard codec in Media Center?
When I play via HDMI to my AVR bitstreaming, the amp does the job. But then I can not use all the nice stuff like DSP in MC.
I tried to add fddshow x64 tryouts, and put the ff libdts.dll in the plugins folder of LAV, but still nothing.

Hendrik, or someone else, help needed, please, The same goes for DTS MA when putting dtsdecoderdll.dll in the lav/plugins folder.
Using windows 8 x64 pro.

Hendrik:
DTS in WAV is one of the worst things you can put your audio into. The WAV file simply claims to be an ordinary WAV file, and if you play it you get nothing but noise. To try to detect that its actually DTS, you have to apply heuristics and basically try to "guess".

You could try sharing one of the files that don't work, but in general I strongly recommend to distance yourself from this way of storing DTS audio.

Hendrik, I've seen you post these warnings before, and I agree that it's a pain to get working. However, iirc this was fixed in MC17 or 18 for me, at least.
I just checked my one and only 5.1 DTS in wav album. Plays perfectly, with all file associations set to "Automatic", and it did so when set to "JRiver audio engine with directshow filters" too, for wav. I could send you a sample file if you need to compare one that works with OP's one that doesn't.

Hendrik:
I have a bunch that work, as I remember fixing it before, which is why samples that don't work would be good.

Ninouchka:
ok, I'm in hospital right now, I will sendd the shortest dts wav I have, when I am home. i'm used to use
WAV, as this is the most common format in recording studios, which was my job for years.
I never had problems with them. I guess it has something to do with windows 8. Thats when the errors occured.
and the problems with movies with dts hd ma, the same. The original disks all work fine on my
Blu ray universal player, but the rips dont.
