thats it, Compatibility Mode Is Checked For Windows 2000

when unchecking, the mega-me skin is gone...

maybe a better way of checking for Windows XP, since the windows 2000 compatability mode still don't get along with the skins.

thanks for the tip

In visualizations that use COVER_ART the picture is not updated correctly on my Windows 98 machine.  It stays on the first song that you play until you go to a different view and then come back.  It updates correctly on Windows NT machine.  It also updates correctly on the Windows 98 computer on the Track Info tab in playing now.

When burning a playlist to CD, the playlist.m3u file does not place the files in my original playlist order.

CD Text isn't working for me and my Lite-On LTR-16102B. I'm not using the generic drivers

Something seems screwy with statistics...

mpc plugon pbm :

8.0.199 still have the same problem with mpc plugin 1.7.9e:
does not report format in properties tab and does not return bitrate
on import. MJ8.0.189 was doing fine with same plugin.

While in Vis Studio, right clicking the display and choosing menu item (i picked 'next') kills MJ with:

"MEDIA JUKEBOX caused an invalid page fault in module PLAYBACKENG.DLL at 017f:01f03d8d."

This happened in previous builds.

When you have a playlist ready to burn, select it and click the CD burner icon (or select "Write (burn) CD" from the tools menu). The CD Writer dialog will appear.

No it doesn't. Everything appears to work normally. My CD/RW is detected. All MJ does is show that the playlist is in the M: drive (it's not) and nothing else happens. "Device - CD Burner (M: )>" is at the top of the left window but "Start" is never an option. I know it's been a couple of weeks since I burned a CD but surely I haven't forgotten how THIS soon.

Seeing all these betas makes me feel as if we'll never see the finished 8.0.  Not to demoralize...i mean, what do i know about programming besides the basics of Java and data structures...but really...

When is the projected finish?  What is the time line?

It's looking really good....the Stats add is nice,  indeed.

Collage number 1 still needs help initializing in WinXP Pro....it's been broken for quite some time.
Also, is there any way...in MJ or another program....to speed up ID3 tag editting and saving...saving to many or large files in particular....

Long live MJ.

I didn't read the post on this message before downloading and installing.

I find that MJ 8 beta doesn't like the only archive I had of the rrg from version 6.

Is it supposed to recognize older licenses, or is that a bug?

Thanks

Media keys on my Logitech keyboard still do not work with or without focus on MJ.  It appears to work for other people.  Any suggestions on how I can solve this problem?

The time displayed is not correct. It's been this way in every single build.

If you have crossfading on and switch songs, notice where the song is compared to the time. Now stop everything and play the song again. You'll notice the times don't match up. It can be a second off or even upwards to 6 secs.

MJ is starting the clock before the buffer runs out on the previous song.

Using WinXp Pro on 2 machines, 2 different sound cards -> same results.

Starflyer,
Please post your ID3 question in a separate thread.

Release is probably about a month away.  This build seems reasonably stable and stability will now be our main task.  In a week or two, the beta will go on the download page.  Two or three weeks there, and we'll be ready.  Probably.

Bug:

1. With MJ running on my Win2K Pro PC, MJ interferes with external CD burning software.  With MJ not running, no burning problems using external CD burning software.  I use MyCD Pro v2.0 (Veritas) to burn data CD-RWs occasionally.  Last night, I was getting failures attempting to burn (some kind of command failure) when using MyCD Pro...first time in 18 months I've EVER seen that (seriously).  It was driving me nuts...2 brand new CD-RW disks and the same problem.  So, I thought for a bit and stopped MJ.  Using the same CD-RW disks, the burns finished without error.  I never, ever saw this problem using MJ v7.x with the same version of MyCD Pro.

Interesting Rip Error - I was trying to rip an entire CD yesterday, but would get errors on several songs that import in to MJ failed.  I was using  MP3/VBR for encoding.  I switched to WAV and the ripped fine.  I then went and converted them using MP3/VBR and that went fine.  Something is up.  I have over two thousand songs currently and I have never had that happen, so I think it may be something with MJ.

Darn...

You got so close to getting the satistics just right, but missed...

Just need an album list option with the number of files in each .... and it would be perfect!

Category Value
Files         22736
Artists          3673
Albums          3673
File Size 124.173GB
Duration 1612:22:41

Reckon I have a lot less albums than artists though.. Next Page

Great step in the right direction, and the fade out on stop/exit is brilliant!

Both collages are working fine for me on two different systems, both running XP Pro. What exactly isn't it doing for you?

Hi

3. Fixed: Shell Extensions would not work with large number of files

When you select 6 files in Windows explorer, which are also in track order, and select MJ>Next Pagelay the play order is 6,1,2,3,4,5 This also happens when you select MJ>Add to playing now...
This has been the same all through Versions 8.....

I don't recall seeing this one posted. My Volume changes depending on?? I think it has something to do with buffering. At times, the volume gets abnormally low; I can pause or stop playback for a short time and it's back up to acceptable level when song is restarted.

llmar,

When you select 6 files in Windows explorer, which are also in track order, and select MJ>lay the play order is 6,1,2,3,4,5 This also happens when you select MJ>Add to playing now...

That's not an MJ bug...it's a Windows feature.  You have to select in reverse order (6 to 1) and make sure you right-click the 1st track when you are choosing the MJ Play/Add To Playing option.  Because you track 6 was the last track highlighted (selected) and, probably, the track you right-clicked on, Windows conveniently sends it as the first track (to any application in drag-n-drop).

Arclight,
Just to back up your report of errors with importing while ripping CDs. I reported it a few days ago although no one else was able to confirm it at the time.

If you are editing the search criteria in a view scheme and then change a component, it reverts back to what it was originally.

If you change the display name and add a component, it reverts back to the original

(I'm using 198 cause of the explorer bug but I don't think this has been fix in this version)

I had installed this version, then installed 198 to use explorer functions. Reinstalled this version (199) again and it gave me an error:

Media Jukebox 7.1 Install Wizard failed to install a neccessary file.

Sorce: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\Setup\RegControl.dll
Destination: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\RegControl.dll

This was after a reboot.

I'll see if I can explain this so you can reproduce it.

Create a smart list as follows: lastplayed=<=86400
This will show only songs played within the last day. This works.

Set the playback filter to skip this smartlist.

Go into Media Library and start playing X. X will show in the smartlist. Before X finishes playing, start playing Y. You'll see Y in the smartlist.

Now hit Stop. You'll notice that the icon for X and Y isn't faded.

Start playing X again, it plays (not supposed to), same with Y.

Now play either X, Y, or a new song (Z) and let it finish (or move the slider toward the end to finish)

Once it finishes, X, Y, and Z are updated and won't play (like it should)

If you do a restart, they get updated aswell.

I'm not sure if I already posted this...

If you leave MJ playing for an extended amount of time with visualizations running, MJ will crash in module (I think - can't quite remember) vis_studio.dll.

This is especially true for full screen mode, but I've seen it even in mini-me.

Question: Why is the playlist in minime-mode using a Winamp-skin still flickering? There's no flickering in normal mini-me mode, using one of your skins, but when I change to a Winamp skin, it flickers all time, looks like it is updating playlist all the time.

WHY?

Request: When using the visualization studio, you are able to display the artist, album, name, time elapsed, and track #. What about the genre or year or comments etc.. Is this going to be an option.
