Disable TV time-shifting
« on: September 08, 2014, 11:46:03 am »

I would like to disable time-shifting for TV (mostly digital) in the hopes that it speeds up channel changes which are so slow that it makes watching TV mostly not possible. I have looked but just can't this setting anywhere. I have found a few references to TV Options -> Digital TV, "Start Digital TV in Time-shifting Mode" but can't find this.

Can anyone help?

You can't disable time-shifting mode for digital television. It has been that way for over 3 years. You can temporarily set your C: drive for time-shifting just to test if it is a bandwidth issue with other drives.

8. Changed: Removed "Start digital television in time-shifting mode" option. Digital television will always start in time-shifting mode.

Thanks. Well that's unfortunate, it should definitely be an option IMO. Waiting several seconds after a channel change won't fly. I let me wife try it and after a minute she just gave me the look that only a wife can give and walked away. Actually it even bugs me. Guess I am stuck with a cable box :(
